Knowledge and understanding of human impact on the oceans are needed to meet many of the SDGs and the introduction of Marine Sciences as a school subject in South Africa in Grade 10 from 2020 is to be welcomed.
Russell Stevens and his team at the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape are to be congratulated on their hard work and dedication in the design of this curriculum.
We are thrilled to be working with Marine Sciences teachers and learners who will be part of the 2019 pilot study being run at three node schools in the Western Cape.
An understanding of the world of the future is necessary for learners to be employable and a combination of Marine Sciences and a knowledge and understanding of sustainability intelligence and how to apply their knowledge and skills will be invaluable to these learners.
